Planning on splitting this group into more meetups?

Who attended?

  • 405 attendees
    •  No demos :( Seems like the focus has shifted from actual New Tech to entrepreneurship/startup/business stuff. Not necessarily bad, but different gig for sure Singapore guy was a breath of fresh air, too bad he wasn't clear on what he wanted from the crowd or clear points that he wanted to get across.

It was all right. My thought on Local Bunny was, "again?" I enjoyed the iVolunteer/whatever-it-will-be-named name-idea session, and the Lijit people are always great. I appreciated the visit by the Singaporean government official but I think we should've, and could've, been nicer and more polite. Come on, people, we did kindergarten a long, long time ago -- some of you far longer ago than I did.
    •  When brainstorming (like the iVolunteer group), it is important to accept all input and not judge if you want to get the most value from the process.
    •  The gentleman from MIT TechStars was very interesting. I wasn't as "impressed" with the companies presenting - nothing drop dead innovative. I don't know if this meeting was a different format or not. It wasn't as "fun" as others I had been to, plus I think it's *critical* that in the beginning when announcements, jobs, etc are being made that the question is asked "is there anyone going out afterwards" that's where the real networking takes place. I was the one who came up afterwards and asked "has anyone 'One Rioted' themselves lately ;)" You're doing a great job Robert, your efforts are widely appreciated in the Boulder StartUp Community. Thank You! Jeff Guggenmos
    •  Focus on the core of highlighting startup companies. The other talks were interesting, but not as much as others.
    •  Definitely fun and informative. I like the 'board meetings' as a way to help people w/ their new software, and to learn from them. The group interaction w/ the presenters shows a great comradery, as if everyone knows each other--they truly want to help, and offer great suggestions! (the "get a Mac" and "get a pc comments" are always good for a laugh; it's pretty ironic when a roomful of techies and geeks have problems w/ the projectors, etc. ;-)

       Enjoyable, entertaining and educational!
    •  Not enough presentations. Too many problems getting the projector to work - have presenters come early or present off a thumb drive.
    •  Not up to the usual quality. Though I did enjoy having our guest from Singapore.
    •  Would be nice to see the agenda beforehand.
    •  Robert Reich is a class-less example of all things wrong with this Meetup - Showing little regard for the gentleman representing Singapore; and leaving him to his own demise technically; while playing into the equally classless twitter head junkies, show just how backwoods some Boulder techies can truly be. You and those who waste everyone's time, show little regard for the very entrepreneurs (or wannabees) you purport to support and was embarrassing to be a part of. Having helped start/manage a world class tech group in Southern CA (Tech Coast Venture Network); brought back fond memories that confirm after this fiasco there's value in pay memberships in a professional tech venture group, vs. this shoddy example couched as helping budding ventures thrive. The only ray of light were those that offered the iVolunteer team with a creative name. For one small moment there was some valuable interaction which frankly could have been done in just about any forum. Surprised no spitballs.
    •  Great presentations. Wish we could have seen another micro failure presentation and heard more from the MIT guy and the folks from Singapore. BTW, some in the crowd weren't the most respectful to our friends from Singapore. I felt real bad about that. Is there anyway we can give them some Boulder swag to make up for it?
    •  This was my first time and I totally loved it. I am coming again...thanks!!!
    •  presentations were interesting. air conditioning would be nice.
    •  Look forward to getting back to more company presentations.
    •  Room hot, tech glitches, lost attention of crowd, enough with local bunny. might have been the rain but overall low energy in room compared to the last several meetups. Felt bad for guy from Singapore. Don't think it reflected well on our community. That could have gone a lot better. Think he wants to come back? MIT guy - did he have a point? miss the earlier start time and the tight schedule. liked it better when we got out by 7:30. maybe try to start closer to 6:15 than 6:30. also missed trivia questions. understand if you don't always have gift cards, get each presenter to donate 1 t-shirt. use those for trivia. if you're giving them 10 minutes access, input, free consulting, you can hit them up for swag to use. ok to use recycled swag. everyone has that. also - liked the idea about season pass/multipass/etc. i'd buy a card. or, put a donate button on the rsvp, would rather chip in $3-5 through paypal than worry about doing it there.
